Membership

Membership of the Gawler Dog Training Club allows you to participate in all training activities conducted by the club.

Annual Single Membership - $60.00

Then $40.00 for each additional member living at the same address.


Membership forms and payments can be posted to PO Box 528, Gawler, SA, 5118.

A $2.00 training fee is required each training night

All dogs must be vaccinated and puppies must have received all their puppy vaccinations. A current vaccination certificate for each dog must be produced when renewing your membership or joining the club.


What to bring to training:
-
Current vaccination certificate for each dog (on your first night)
-Appropriate collar and lead

Correct training equipment is important. The club sells an extensive range of suitable equipment at competitive prices available each week from the Dog Shop.

We train in most weather conditions so appropriate clothing/footwear is essential. ie. runners, hats and sunblock in summer, gumboots and waterproof coats and hats and a towel to dry your dog off in winter.


GDTC: TRAINING RULES DURING COVID_19 RESTRICTIONS

1. If you have been overseas in the last 14 days,  do not come to training.
2. If you (or your dog) are unwell, do not come to training.
3. No spectators allowed – only the dog and the handler to be on the grounds.
4. No walk-ups will be admitted to class. New Members must follow the documented New Member Procedures.
6. When you arrive at the club grounds, to enter please walk along the front of the clubhouse. When you leave, please leave by walking through the gap between the dog shop and the football club rooms. We will have hand sanitizer available at both locations. Signs will indicate the direction to arrive and leave.
7. You must comply with social distancing rules (1.5 metres) at all times.
8. Training fee is $2 per dog. Please bring the correct money – no change will be given.
9. You must have your name marked off BEFORE going into your class (for tracing purposes)
10.  You are asked to bring a small toy/treats with you to use during training. The toy must not be shared with other handlers or dogs.
9.  You will be assigned to a class – you MUST stay with your class and comply with the instructors instruction during the class. No independent training to take place on the grounds.
10.You must not touch dogs belonging to others.
11. You must be ready for class at the proposed starting time. Late comers (unless previously arranged) will not be able to train.
12. At the end of your class, please do not linger. We must minimize un-necessary co-mingling.

 AGILITY ONLY:
13. Only one handler to attend training (exception for junior handlers with one child, one parent to attend) An exception would be when a handler is accompanied by a carer. More than one dog per handler is allowed but that handler and dog must stay in the same class for the entire session.
14. You can set up your crates under the verandah but they must be the required 1.5 metres apart.

 OBEDIENCE ONLY:
15. No equipment will be in use for training. Tricks class – you must bring your own equipment for use in that class and you must not share that equipment with anyone.
16. Only one handler per dog to attend training (exception for junior handlers with one child, one parent to attend) Only one dog as well. An exception would be when a handler is accompanied by a carer.

If you do not comply with these Rules you can be asked by any Committee member or Instructor to leave the ground immediately  

SHORT FORM OF RULES - GAWLER DOG TRAINING CLUB INC.

1) Training will not be held if the temperature at 5pm on the Elders Weather Site is over 34 for Gawler area, except  trailers which will be held at 8pm.

2) If there is consistent rain in the district prior to training, training will be cancelled.

3) There is no training on the Friday night of a long weekend, or if the day is a public holiday.

4) Check in each training night. Have your name and your dog(s) name(s) marked off and pay your $2 levy.

5) All members should wear a current membership bade.

6) If a dog fouls the ground, the handler must remove the droppings.

7) No dogs to congregate under the verandah.

8) The Club requires that a responsible adult accompany any handler under fourteen years of age.

9) Sensible footwear must be worn - NO THONGS OR BARE FEET.

10) Dogs must not be left unattended, they are not permitted in the Clubrooms and they must not be taken off leash except when required by an instructor.

11) Bitches in season are not permitted on grounds on training nights.

12) No dog that is infected with any contagious disease is permitted on grounds on training nights.

13) All dogs must be immunized with current veterinary certificates.

14) Only food used as a training aid is to be taken on the grounds on training nights.

15) The Chief Instructor has the authority to deal with unseemly conduct or harmful act of any member or member's dog.

16) All complaints are to be addressed in writing as soon as possible.

17) There is 'no smoking' in the clubrooms, under the verandah or on the green areas.

18) Puppies - obedience puppies are up to 6 months of age.

19) Trialing - all trial results shall be placed in the box provided. Any results not recorded will not be included for end of the year trophies. GDTC must be placed first on trial entry forms.

20) Agility - Puppy foundation agility classes after they have completed their vaccination courses and twelve months of age to attend agility classes. All dogs must be deemed fit and suitable by instructors.
